Eleanor G.
Vasicek, age 91, resident of Fargo, ND, formerly of
Lakota, ND, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Kindred
Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Eleanor
Geneva Kleven was born October 13, 1919 at Petersburg,
ND, the daughter of Engebret and Gurine (Lien) Kleven.
She was raised and attended school at Lakota, ND, graduating
from high school in 1938. She then attended Dakota Business
College. She worked as a selective service clerk in
the area. She then worked for 8 years as a clerk at
the ASCS office in Lakota. Eleanor married Theodore
Vasicek on January 12, 1946 at Grafton, ND. They lived
and farmed near Brocket, ND. In 1958 she went back to
work at the ASCS office. The family moved off of the
farm and into Lakota in 1962. Eleanor retired in 1975
after 30 years of service. Eleanor and Theodore wintered
in Phoenix, AZ for 20 years. They moved to Fargo in
1987. Theodore died on March 16, 2000. Eleanor continued
living in Fargo until the time of her death. Throughout
her life she enjoyed traveling, dancing, and crafts.
Eleanor
will be greatly missed by her 2 sons, Alan & his
wife Janet, and Michael & his girlfriend Amanda,
all of Fargo; 6 grandchildren, Randy (Paulette) Ward,
Brian (Robyn) Ward, David Ward, Gary Ward, Kristen (Charles)
Votava, and Shawn (Ann) Vasicek; 9 great-grandchildren;
and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter,
Lana Ward Becker; 2 sons-in-law, Leroy Ward and Cliff
Becker; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.
Eleanor's
Funeral Service will be held at Lakota Lutheran Church,
Lakota, ND, on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 10:00
a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Dale Vitalis.
The organist will be Karen Fowler. Interment will
be in the Lakota Cemetery. The casketbearers will
be Randy Ward, Brian Ward, Robert Kleven, Charles Vasicek,
James Votava, and Beau Votava. The honorary bearers
will be Shawn Vasicek, Charles Votava, Gary Ward, David
Ward, Justin Ward, and John Vasicek. Visitation
will be held at the church on Wednesday, beginning at
9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
