Einar B. Hamre,
age 86, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Petersburg,
ND, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Altru Hospital
in Grand Forks, ND.
Einar
Burton Hamre was born April 6, 1923 in Dahlen Township
of Nelson County, ND, the son of John and Elvina (Johnson)
Hamre. He was raised and educated in the area. Einar
lived on a farm near Dahlen before moving to a farm
south of Michigan, ND. He farmed and was a mechanic
at Reiten Implement in Petersburg. Einar moved to Petersburg
where he lived for 35 years and operated a mechanic
garage. In 2004 he moved to the Lakota Good Samaritan
Center. Einar had an off the wall sense of humor, which
led to some interesting storytelling.
Einar's
family includes 2 sisters-in-law, Rosie Anderson and
Janette Moen, both of Michigan, ND; and many nieces
and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Joe,
Allen, Donald, and Harry; and 3 sisters, Olga Reineke,
Ann Harmon, and Helma Dangerfield.
Einar's
Funeral Service will be held at the Petersburg Lutheran
Church on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating
will be the Reverend Gary Knabe. The organist will be
Marlys Hoverson. Interment will be in the spring at
the Petersburg Cemetery . The casketbearers will be
Michael Hamre, Gordon Reineke, Jeffrey Dangerfield,
Paul Ringdahl, Roger Waltz, and Darrel Hertel. The honorary
bearers will be all of Einar's family and friends. Visitation
will be held at the church on Saturday, beginning at
1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
