Doris
L. Schindele, age 86, resident of Lakota, ND, died Tuesday,
August 14, 2007 at the Nelson County Health System Care
Center in McVille, ND.
Doris
Lucille Linnum was born February 26, 1921 in Churchs Ferry,
ND. She was raised in the area and graduated Churchs Ferry
High School in 1939. She then attended cosmetology school
in Fargo, graduating in 1941. Her first job was in Rolla,
ND. She then moved to Devils Lake, and later to Lakota where
she met and married Albert "Snooks" Schindele on September
8, 1945. They farmed together near Lakota until 1977, when
they retired and moved into Lakota. Doris enjoyed sewing,
quilting, needlework, baking, playing cards, and spending
time with her family & friends. Albert died March 24,
1995. Doris was active in the Lakota Lutheran Church, served
on the Church Council, was a member of the Home Benefit
Homemakers Club, held several offices in the WELCA, as well
as being a member of Lakota Senior Citizens and Willing
Workers.
Doris
will be greatly missed by her three children, Rose Mary
(Rick) Smith of Kingman, AZ, Mike (Colleen) Schindele of
Stillwater, MN, and David (Vicki) Schindele of Lakota, ND;
a sister, Donna (Sherman) Hoiberg of Fargo, ND; a sister-in-law,
Gloria Linnum of Lake Orion, MI; six grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, Haakon and Mary (Ellingson)
Linnum; her husband, Albert "Snooks"; a brother, Myron Linnum;
and two sisters, Lillian Tuchscherer and Alice Thompson.
The Memorial Service for Doris will be
held at the Lakota Lutheran Church on Monday, August 20, 2007
at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Joel Westby.
The soloist will be Amy Hoiberg, and the organist will be
Karen Fowler. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery. Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Sunday,
August 19, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and will continue
at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of
service.
