Doris R. Bagne, age 89, resident of Lakota, ND, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Doris Ruby Stefonowicz was born May 10, 1920 at Bowbells, ND, the daughter of Leonard A. and Lenora E. (Abbott) Stefonowicz. She attended elementary and high school in Lakota. She graduated with a Standard Degree in Education at Minot State Teachers College and with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at Mayville State Teachers College. She served two years in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. She taught school in Illinois Township and served as deputy superintendent of schools in Nelson County. She taught in the Grand Forks City School System until retirement. She married Joseph C. Phipps in 1943 and had one son, Stephen Phipps. She married Henry Bagne in 1967.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Stephen; her parents, Leonard and Lenora Stefonowicz; sister, Florence I. White; brother, Clifford L. Stefonowicz; step-daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Larry Bosh; and step-son, Malcolm Bagne.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Bagne of Lakota; nephews, Michel Stefonowicz of Crosby, ND and Marc Stefonowicz of Hondo, TX ; niece, Candace Dyer of Austin, TX; nine grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.

There will be a private graveside service at the Lakota Cemetery for the family of Doris.
