Diseth, age 76, resident of Edmore, ND, died Sunday,
November 1, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, ND
.
Darlene
Carol Braaten was born November 9, 1932 at Edmore, the
daughter of Gjelmer and Agnes (Sanderson) Braaten. She
was raised and attended school in Edmore. Darlene married
Luvern L. Diseth on December 8, 1950 in Edmore. They
lived their entire life and raised their family together
in Edmore. She worked several years as a cook at the
Edmore Public School. She also worked at YACC in Nekoma
from 1978 to 1981, and had a carpet cleaning business
for several years with her friend Loretta Gjesdal. She
was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church,
a volunteer at the Edmore Memorial Rest Home, and a
member of the Edmore Horse Lovers Club. She was an active
member of the community and loved playing Bingo with
her friends.
Darlene
will be greatly missed by her husband, Luvern of Edmore;
4 sons, Doyal of Fargo, ND, Donavan & his wife Debra
of Edmore, Scott & his wife Sally of Edmore, and
Shane & his wife Lisa of Devils Lake, ND; 6 grandchildren,
Becky Diseth, Jessie (Wade) Harpestad, Sondra (Danny)
Hanson, Josh Diseth, Jordan Diseth, and Sawyer Diseth;
2 great grandchildren, Jadyn & Payton Harpestad;
1 sister, Beverly (Bob) Silva of Union City, CA; 3 brothers-in-law,
Archie Smith of Aurora, CO, Virgil Vallier of Union
City, CA, and Marlin (Jean) Egeland of Edmore; a sister-in-law,
Mercedes (Lee) Schmidt of Devils Lake; her special friend,
Loretta Gjesdal; her special Bingo friends, Connie Helle,
Julie Jenson, and Diane Holmen; and several nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth
Braaten and John “Jack” Braaten; and 4 sisters, Verna
Smith, Hazel Vallier, Mavis Ness, and Sandra Braaten.
Darlene's
Funeral Service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church
of Edmore on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
Officiating will be the Reverend Don Reynolds. Music
will be provided by the High Plains Trio, John Martinson
will be the organist. Interment will be private in the
Edmore Cemetery . The casketbearers will be Darlene's
sons, Doyal, Donavan, Scott, and Shane. Visitation will
be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Wednesday,
November 4, 2009 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer
Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the
church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of
service
