Clinton Moen,
age 78, resident of Michigan, ND, died Sunday, June
27, 2010 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Clinton
Owen Moen was born May 28, 1932 in Grand Forks, the
son of Rudolph O. and Gena C. (Lillehaugen) Moen. He
was raised on his parents farm near Whitman, ND, where
he also attended elementary school. He is a 1950 graduate
of Michigan High School. He began farming in the Whitman
area and also worked many years at the Whitman Co-op
Elevator. Clinton married Gladys Zahradka on April 14,
1955 in Lankin, ND. He joined the U.S. Army on January
27, 1955 and was honorably discharged on January 26,
1957 . He returned home to farm. He enjoyed his farming
career and retired in 1983. In 1985 he began working
at Miller's Hardware in Grand Forks. He retired from
that position in 1999 and moved to Michigan. Clinton
enjoyed driving around the countryside to look at the
crops and the beautiful scenery. He was an active member
of Sarnia United Lutheran Church of Whitman and the
church council, the Whitman Elevator Board, the Devils
Lake Elks club, the American Legion, and was active
in community affairs and politics.
Clinton's
family includes a daughter, Debra (Alvin) Schroeder
of Devils Lake, ND; a son, Jeff (Deb) Moen of Whitman,
ND; 5 grandchildren, Amber (Lance) Duey of Crary, ND,
Ryan Schroeder of Devils Lake, Sara Keller of Bismarck,
ND, Margo Moen of Whitman, and Haley (Trevor) Nielsen
of Fordville, ND; a brother, Gene (Orriene) Moen of
Kent, WA; a sister, Melba Brierley of Hamburg, NY; and
many nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Margo
Jane Moen; and a sister, Doris Helgeson.
Clinton
's Funeral Service will be held at the Sarnia United
Lutheran Church, Whitman, ND, on Thursday, July 1, 2010
at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Sue Mackey.
Special music will be provided by Margo Moen and Haley
Nielsen. Interment will be in the West Forest Cemetery.
The casketbearers will be Haley & Trevor Nielsen,
Amber & Lance Duey, Margo Moen, and Ryan Schroeder.
The honorary casketbearers will include all of Clinton
's friends. Military Honors will be conducted by the
W.L. Cowper American Legion Post # 238 of Michigan.
Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of
Lakota on Wednesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a Prayer
Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the
church on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of
service.
