Clarence J. Miller, age 93, resident
of Lakota, ND, died Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Lakota
Good Samaritan Center.
Clarence
Jacob Miller was born August 19, 1915 in Sauter Township
of Walsh County, ND, the son of Jake and Tina (Koubat)
Miller. He was raised on the family farm near Brocket
and attended the Sauter Township School. Clarence
married Adeline M. Herda on October 18, 1938 at the
Church of St. Catherine, Lomice. They farmed and raised
their family together in the Brocket area. They moved
to Lakota in the early 1980's and, more recently,
lived for a time at Prairie Rose in Lakota. Clarence
became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in
October of 2006. Adeline died October 25, 2006. Clarence
was a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Brocket, and a current member of St. Mary of the Assumption
Catholic Church in Lakota. He had been a member of
the Board of Directors of the Brocket Elevator, the
Eagles Club, and also the Knights of Columbus. Clarence
was liked and respected by all who knew him for his
warm, friendly personality. He leaves a legacy that
reflects what he valued: hard work, respect, generosity,
humor, love of family, and the importance of friends.
Clarence loved the land; he farmed with his father
and then his son for over 70 years.
Clarence
will be missed by his 3 children, Carol (Dan) Winter
of Clitherall, MN, Joyce (LeRoy) Strand of Warroad,
MN, and Kenneth (Linda) Miller of Blaine, MN; 8 grandchildren;
11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Blanche Maixner
of Lakota and Rose Pic of Whitman, ND; 1 brother-in-law,
George Bina of Lakota; and several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of
68 years, Adeline; and his sister, Mary Bina.
The
Funeral Mass for Clarence will be held at St. Mary
of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lakota, on Friday,
March 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. The Celebrant will be
Rev. Fr. John Aerts. Music will be provided by the
St. Mary Church Choir, Barbara Johnson is the organist.
Interment will be in the spring at St. Joseph Catholic
Cemetery, Brocket. Casketbearers will be Tim Miller,
Kelly Kyllo, Chris Miller, Pat Miller, Aric Dols,
Allan Pic, Bob Bina, and Steve Strand. Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on
Thursday, March 5, 2009 beginning at 2:00 p.m. with
a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue at the Church on Friday,
from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
