Christopher J. Sherland, age 18, resident of Michigan, ND, died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND, due to injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.

Christopher Jerome Sherland was born March 31, 1989 at Devils Lake, ND, the son of Harold and Shelley (Hassett) Sherland. He was raised in Edmore, ND before moving to Lakota, where he attended Lakota Elementary School. He then moved to Michigan, ND, and attended the Dakota Prairie Elementary School. Christopher also lived in Crary, ND, and attended Devils Lake High School for the last 3 years. He moved back to Michigan, where he had just begun his Senior year at Dakota Prairie High School in Petersburg. Christopher thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with his friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Chloe of Devils Lake; his mother, Shelley Sherland of Michigan; his father, Harold Sherland of Crary; his brother, Jeremiah Sherland of Michigan; his sister, Tiffany Sherland of Crary; his girlfriend, Kayla Murphy of Gwinner, ND; his maternal grandmother, Jean Hassett of Devils Lake; his paternal grandmother, Colleen (Edward) Saari of Crary; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his 2 pet dogs, Buddy and Demon.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jim Hassett and Leonard Sherland; and 2 uncles, Roy Hassett and Kevin Hassett.

Christopher's Funeral Service will be held at the Dakota Prairie High School Gymnasium in Petersburg, ND, on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Sue Mackey. Music will be provided by Jason Flom. Interment will be in the Michigan Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Brycen Sateren, Jarod Cone, Clinton Herrmann, Evan Peterson, Garriet Gestson, and Justin Janke. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Thursday, August 30, 2007 beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the high school gymnasium on Friday, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
