Charles Weber,
age 87, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Michigan,
ND, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Lakota Good
Samaritan Center.
Charles
was born December 4, 1922 in Beardsley, MN, the son
of Charles Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Berning) Weber. He
moved with his family to Michigan, ND in 1929. Charles
farmed south of Michigan and cared for his parents there.
He raised crops and pigs. He was active in the ND Pork
Producers Association and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic
Church in Michigan. Charles married Lorene ( Anderson
) Shearer on September 28, 1968 at Michigan. They continued
farming together until they retired in 1985 and moved
into town. Charles then worked as a janitor for the
Michigan School, and also worked for the city of Michigan
. Lorene died August 3, 1995. Charles continued living
in their home until he moved to the Good Samaritan Center
in September of 2007.
Charles
is survived by 2 stepsons, Mark (Maja) Shearer of Fairbanks,
AK, and Jim (Diane) Shearer of Belgrade, MT; 5 step-grandchildren,
Ryan, Ben, Paul, Rhonda, and Darren; 1 step-great grandson,
Jonathan; 2 brothers, Bill Weber of Wadena, MN, and
Bob Weber of Larimore, ND; 4 sisters-in-law, Helyn Weber
of Larimore, ND, Beverly Nelson of Brocket, ND, Ruth
(Len) Bednarz of Eldorado Hills, CA, and Marjorie Vogel
of Pasadena, CA; a brother-in-law, Leonard (Kay) Anderson
of Sierra Vista, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene;
a step-son, Doug Shearer; 5 brothers, John, Frank, A.B.
“Dutch”, Leo, and Lawrence; 3 sisters, Josephine Yoney,
Margaret Sonderland, and Ann Weber; and a brother-in-law,
Russell Anderson.
The
Funeral Mass for Charles will be held at the St. Lawrence
Catholic Church, Michigan, ND, on Friday, July 23, 2010
at 10:30 a.m. Celebrating the Mass will be Rev. Fr.
John Aerts. Music will be provided by the St. Lawrence
Church Choir, Dolly Devlin is the organist. Interment
will be in the Michigan Cemetery. The casketbearers
will be Buel Sonderland, Don Sonderland, Gary Sonderland,
Butch Weber, Jerry Weber, and Garis Pollert. Visitation
will be held at the Church on Friday, from 9:30 a.m.
until the time of Mass.
