Burdette
"Bud" Freije, age 69, resident of Edmore, ND, died Tuesday,
October 16, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Burdette
Eugene Freije was born October 19, 1937 at Lawton, ND, the
son of Shabel and Martha (Munyer) Freije. At the age of
7 the family moved to Edmore, where Bud graduated high school
in 1956. He joined the U.S. Army and served his country
during the Cuban and Berlin Crises. He was stationed in
Germany for 18 months. Bud returned home to work for his
father in the farm implement dealership at Edmore. Upon
his father's retirement, Bud took over operation of the
business with his brother Alfred. Bud lived in Edmore all
of his life and was involved with the Edmore Volunteer Fire
Department and Ambulance Service. He was also a member of
the Masons and the Shriners. Bud was forced to retire due
to ill health but continued living in Edmore until the time
of his death.
Bud's
family includes 5 brothers, John (Meryl) Freije of Mayville,
ND, Shabel (Phyllis) Freije Jr. of Steele, ND, Howard Dean
(Mary Ann) Freije of Grand Forks, ND, Arnie (Jeannie) Freije
of Warroad, MN, and Robert (Patricia) Freije of Edmore,
ND; 3 sisters, Delores McGown of Grand Prairie, TX, Devonna
Grey of Los Angeles, CA, and Evelyn Kosobud of Tempe, AZ;
and also several nieces and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, George,
Raymond, and Alfred; and 3 sisters, Gloria Anderson, Sadie
and Yvonne.
Bud's Funeral Service will be held at Concordia
Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND, on Monday, October 22, 2007
at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Don Reynolds. The
organist will be John Martinson and the soloist will be Edval
Helle Jr. Interment will be in the Lawton Cemetery, Lawton,
ND. Casketbearers will be Doug Freije, George Freije, Corey
Freije, David Freije, Rod Freije, and Terry Freije. Visitation
will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Sunday,
October 21, 2007 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service
at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday,
from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
