Blanche Kosobud,
age 89, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Lawton,
ND, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in
Devils Lake, ND.
Blanche
Shimek was born July 27, 1918 near Lankin, ND, the daughter
of Joseph and Agnes (Matejcek) Shimek. She was raised
on her parents farm and attended school in the area.
Blanche married William F. Kosobud on November 8, 1939
at Adams, ND. They moved to the Lawton area and purchased
their farm in 1942. They farmed there until retiring
in 1979. In 1983 they moved to Lakota. They spent summers
on the farm and several winters in Arizona. William
died June 17, 1992. Blanche continued living in their
home at Lakota until July 27, 2006, when she became
a resident of the Lakota Good Samaritan Center. She
had been a past member of the Homemakers Club and the
Senior Citizens Club in Lawton. She was a generous and
kind lady. She was a wonderful hostess as she loved
to entertain at her home.
Blanche
will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended
family members.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William;
2 brothers, Ray and Alvin; and a sister, Caroline Zahradka.
Blanche's
Funeral Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran
Church of Lakota, ND, on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 10:30
a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Joel Westby. The
organist will be Diane Beirwagen and the soloist will
be Sally Simonson. Interment will be in the WFLA-Kosobud
Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND. Casketbearers will be Bryon
Smith, Roger Kosobud, Tom Halvorson, Steve Halvorson,
Gene Balek, and James Herda. Visitation will be held
at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Monday,
July 7, 2008 beginning at 1:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, from
9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
