Barbara Tufte

Barbara J. Tufte, age 59, resident of Lakota, ND, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Barbara Jean Winnegge was born March 15, 1948 at Cando, ND, the daughter of Leonard and Emma (Strachen) Winnegge. She was raised in Cando until she moved to Lakota. Barbara married Roger W. Tufte on April 18, 1970 at Lakota Lutheran Church. They lived all of their life in Lakota and raised their children there. Barb worked as a waitress at the old hotel in Lakota as well as Armstrong's Caf é , the Good Samaritan Center, Russo's Caf é , and also was a cook at the Lakota Elementary School until her health forced her to quit.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her husband, Roger Tufte of Lakota; 3 daughters, Tracey Tufte of Lakota, Bobbi Jo (Scott) Ericksrud of Lakota, and Patricia (Travis) Kjorsvik of Wahpeton, ND; 2 sons, Roger W. Tufte Jr. of Lakota and Lenny Tufte of Lakota; 5 grandchildren, Dillin Tufte, Sierra & Shayla Ericksrud, and Zachariah & Arianna Kjorsvik; 3 sisters, Betty Langton of Lakota, Susan (James) Wetzel of Hazen, ND, and Kathy (Bernard) Skalicky of Norwich, ND; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard & Emma Winnegge; and her daughter, Stacey Tufte.

Barbara's Funeral Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran Church of Lakota, ND, on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Joel Westby. Interment will be in the Spring at the Lakota Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
