Arnold
“Bud” Bondy, age 77, resident of rural Dahlen, ND, died
Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Aneta Parkview Health
Center in Aneta, ND .
Arnold
John Bondy was born May 19, 1932 on his parents' farm
near Fordville, ND. He is the son of Arne and Josephine
(Vangsness) Bondy. In 1934 the family moved to their
current farmstead near Dahlen. Arnold attended school
there and graduated from Dahlen High School in 1950.
He started farming until he entered the U.S. Army on
January 16, 1957. He served his country and was honorably
discharged on December 11, 1958 with the rank of Private
1 st Class. Upon his discharge from the Army, Bud returned
to farm with his father and his brother, Orlin. More
recently Bud was helping his nephews, John & Jaime,
to take over the family farm. He thoroughly enjoyed
being outdoors and hunting, but his passion was farming
and livestock. Over the years Bud participated in curling
events, the Dahlen Bowling League, the Dahlen Lutheran
Church Council, he was an officer on the Dahlen Township
Board and a member of the John Larson American Legion
Post #247 at Petersburg. Bud never married nor had children,
but he cherished each and every niece & nephew as
if they were his own children.
Bud's
family includes a brother, Gordon (Pauline) Bondy of
Grand Forks, ND; a sister, Lila Schoyen of Enderlin,
ND; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Bondy of Dahlen, ND; and
17 nieces & nephews, Rod Bondy, Gary Bondy, Steve
Bondy, Paul Bondy, Susan Humble, Gloria Bondy, Karen
Dahl, Owen Bondy Jr., Roger Bondy, Mary Higdem, Joanne
Fleischfresser, Arvin Carlson, Jerry Carlson, Brent
Nelson, Brian Nelson, John Bondy, and Jaime Bondy.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Owen
Bondy Sr. and Orlin Bondy; a sister, Ione Carlson; a
nephew, Morland Carlson; and a niece, Linda Leavell.
Bud's
Funeral Service will be held at the Dahlen Lutheran
Church, Dahlen, ND, on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at
11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Gary Knabe.
The organist will be Marlys Hoverson and the soloist
will be Mary Ralston. Interment will be in the spring
at Middle Forest Cemetery, rural Dahlen. Military Honors
will be accorded by the John Larson American Legion
Post #247 of Petersburg. The casketbearers will be Rod
Bondy, Gary Bondy, Steve Bondy, Roger Bondy, Paul Bondy,
Owen Bondy Jr., Arvin Carlson, Jerry Carlson, Larry
Humble, and Wayne Fleischfresser. The honorary casketbearers
will be Brent, Brian, John, and Jaime. Visitation will
be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on
Monday, December 28 th beginning at 4:30 p.m. with a
Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue
at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the
time of service.
