Arlene D.
McHenry, age 87, resident of Devils Lake, ND, died Monday,
May 09, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils
Lake.
Arlene
Nelson was born December 14, 1923 at Grand Forks, ND,
the daughter of Bernard and Belle (Demoray) Nelson.
She lived at Adams, ND for a short time before moving
with her family and attending school at Pelto and Whitman.
She graduated from Lakota High School in 1942. Arlene
then attended nursing school in Grand Forks. She moved
to Seattle, WA, where she worked for Boeing. Arlene
married Rupert McHenry in California. After a short
time there, she returned to North Dakota and worked
as a Nurses Aide at Mercy Hospital and also worked at
the library in Devils Lake. In recent years, Arlene
owned and operated a reflexology business in Devils
Lake until her retirement. She had lived at Lake Country
Manor before moving to the Good Samaritan Center in
2006. Her hobbies involved handiwork and crocheting,
as well as enjoying music, playing the piano, and singing.
Arlene
is survived by 2 sisters, Dena Ferguson and Ruby (Donovan)
Leith, both of Lakota, ND; and many nieces, nephews,
and friends.
She
was preceded in death by her parents.
The
Funeral Service for Arlene will be held at the Aaker
Funeral Home of Lakota on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at
2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday,
beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
