Ardelle M. Ivesdal, age 80, resident of Edmore, ND, went to be with her loving Savior on Thursday, October 16, 2008, at the home of her son in Binford, ND.

Ardelle Mae Anderson was born May 30, 1928 in Silvesta Township, near Fairdale, ND, the daughter of Edwin and Amanda (Stensland) Anderson. In 1931 she moved with her family to farm in Prospect Township, near Edmore. Her father died in 1940 and the family moved into Edmore. Her mother died in 1944. Ardelle married Arnold Ivesdal on December 4, 1944 at Devils Lake, ND. They lived and farmed in Highland Township. In 1960 they moved to California for a short time, where she worked as a cook for General Motors. They returned to Highland Township to operate their farm and dairy. Ardelle began working at the Edmore Memorial Rest Home in 1967 as a cook and nurses aid. They moved into Edmore in 1970. In 1976 Arnold and Ardelle became administrators of the rest home until their retirement in 1993. They loved to travel; they took many bus tours and family trips across the U.S. and also a trip to Norway. In November 2004 they celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary at the Ramada Inn at Fargo with their 3 children and their extended families. Arnold died September 25, 2006. Ardelle continued living in Edmore, where she was a member of the Living Word Congregation. She loved to garden, play games, and attend ball games.

Ardelle will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Gary (Connie) Ivesdal of Binford, ND, Barbara (Larry) Ivesdal of Edmore, and Roxanne (Daryl) Stensland of Valley City, ND; 9 grandchildren, Dawn (Ryan) Loraas, Lisa (Joe) Pesek, Trent (Tracie) Ivesdal, Shannon (Ronnie) Martinson, Jason (Ruth) Ivesdal, Jenny (Sean) Burian, Jessica (Andrew) Johnson, Jeremy Stensland & Brandon Stensland; 14 great grandchildren, Britney & Brady Pesek, Kevyn, Tyler & Jacob Loraas, Larin, Bethany & Allie Ivesdal, Regan & Mason Martinson, McKenzie, Marissa & Mariah Burian, and Caleb Ivesdal; a brother, Edroy (Judy) Anderson of Mankato, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Adeline Danielson and Olive Ivesdal, both of Edmore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant daughter; 6 sisters, Thelma Anderson, Lillian Anderson, Eleanor Thorson, Gladys Hagen, Arlene Holmes, and Marie Kunkel; and a brother, Eugene Anderson.

Ardelle's Funeral Service will be held at Living Word Free Lutheran Church of Edmore, on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Craig Wentzel. Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery near Edmore. Casketbearers will be Trent Ivesdal, Jason Ivesdal, Jeremy Stensland, Brandon Stensland, Joe Pesek, Ryan Loraas, Sean Burian, Ronnie Martinson, and Andrew Johnson. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Monday, October 20 th beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
