Allen D. Niemi, 66, resident of Brocket, North Dakota passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at his home in Brocket.

Allen was born October 20, 1942 in Lakota, ND the son of Edward and Ida (Muhonen) Niemi. He was baptized and confirmed in the Pelto Finnish Church, Missouri Synod. He grew up in the Brocket area and attended Pelto Enterprise School until moving to Lakota in 1953 with his family. In 1972 he moved back to Brocket. Allen worked for various companies including Lakota House Movers, Gibbs Construction and Landy's Meat Packing in Minneapolis . He was a custodian for the Finnish Historical Society, worked at the Lakota Cheese Plant and most recently for Sundeen Farms at Brocket.

Allen is survived by his sister Shirley Kurtz of Grand Forks , ND , four nephews, 2 nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four nieces.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Grace Lutheran Church of Lakota, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Enterprise Cemetery , rural Brocket, ND. Arrangements with the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota.
