Alida G. Peterson, age 92, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Petersburg, ND, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Nelson County Health System Hospital in McVille, ND.

Alida Gladys Northagen was born July 29, 1918 in Dahlen Township of Nelson County, ND, the daughter of George and Julia (Olson) Northagen. She was baptized and confirmed at Sarnia Lutheran Church, Whitman, ND, and attended school at Dahlen, ND. She worked in various homes throughout the area as a housemaid. Alida married Alfred T. Peterson on June 25, 1950 at Petersburg, ND. They lived and farmed on the Peterson family farmstead south of Petersburg. Alida was a member of the Petersburg Lutheran Church and WELCA. She also taught Sunday School, Bible School , and Junior Lutheran for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, and visiting with friends and neighbors. Alfred died March 10, 2006 . Alida moved to the Good Samaritan Center in September of 2006.

Alida is survived by her daughter, Phylaine MacPhay of Marina, CA; her granddaughter, Andrea Bratvold (John Ries) of Antelope, CA; 3 great-grandchildren, Dillon Ries, Aaron Ries, and Neala Ries; a sister, Lorraine Krueger of Salt Lake City, UT; a brother, Melvin (Joyce) Northagen of Fordville, ND; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Jason Bratvold; and 3 sisters, Viola Madson, Selma Kjorsvik, and Evelyn Hamre.

Alida's Funeral Service will be held at the Petersburg Lutheran Church, Petersburg, ND, on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the spring at the Petersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Monday, March 7, 2011 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
