Joseph C. Pesek, age 73, resident of Edmore, ND, died Tuesday
January 20, 2004 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Joseph C. Pesek was born December 15, 1930 in Sauter Township
of Walsh County, ND, the son of Joe and Mary (Balek) Pesek.
He was raised on the family farm and attended the Sauter School.
He farmed with his parents and eventually took over operation
of the farmstead. He married Catherine Skalicky on June 3,
1952 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Lomice. Joe played
tuba in the Pesek Band for 50 years, they played and entertained
across the United States from Canada to Arizona. He retired
from farming in 1993, and in 1995, they moved into Edmore.
He loved to watch sporting events, playing cards and fishing.
Joe will be deeply missed by his wife, Catherine Pesek of
Edmore; 4 children, Michael (Cindy) Pesek of Grand Forks,
Marcia (Steve) Monroe of Grand Forks, Sally (Tony) Leddige
of Grand Forks and Joe (Lisa) Pesek of Edmore; 5 grandchildren,
Sacha Pesek, Crystal (Matt) Johnson, Britney Pesek, Brady
Pesek & Parker Joe Monroe; 2 step-grandchildren, Bethany
Lunde & Adam Lunde; a great-grandson, Cole Johnson; 2
sisters, Rose Marie (Laddie) Pecka of Lawton, ND and Katsy
(Larry) Long of International Falls, MN; 1 brother, Herman
(Lillian) Pesek of Cascade, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Alice
Paul, Agnes Bina & Mary Lou Bjorge; 2 brothers, Bennie
Pesek & Laddie Pesek.
Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph will be held at St. Catherine
Catholic Church, Lomice, rural Lawton, ND, on Saturday January
24, 2004 at 11:00 AM. Celebrant will be Fr. Samuel Ezeibekwe.
Organist will be Emily Karas, vocalists will be Debby Karas
& Pamela Landsem. Interment will be in the spring at St.
Catherine Catholic Church Cemetery. Casketbearers will be
Duane Pesek, Don Pesek, Jim Pesek, Greg Fossum, Danny Pecka,
Tim Pesek, Ben Pesek & Adam Lunde. Visitation will be
held at Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Friday January
23, 2004 after 1:00 PM, with a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00
PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, from
10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
